The Association of International Women (AIW) is a social, recreational and educational organization with more than 25 activities you can get involved in. We have nearly 250 members who live primarily in the greater Indianapolis area. We welcome women of all nationalities who are new to the Indianapolis area, as well as those who have lived here for many years.
Founded in 1992 to support women moving to the USA from other countries, the AIW now represents women from nearly 50 countries, including the USA . We host a wide variety of activities and events every month, offering members the opportunity to connect with other women with similar interests.
We have more than 25 interest groups related to language conversation, cooking and dining, cultural and recreational interests. Some of our interest groups include exploring Indiana culture and art, discussing books, practicing English or a foreign language, demonstrating ethnic cooking, eating out at local restaurants, and much more.
Our smaller interest groups are designed to make it easier to meet other women who share common interests. We often meet in members' homes, bookstores or cafes in the area. If you can't find a group for your interests, we encourage you to start a new group and we will help you find others who share your interests.
Every other month, we have a general membership luncheon at a local restaurant or banquet hall, where we usually feature a guest speaker, presentation or activity.
We also invite all members and prospective members to attend our free educational seminars. Usually held 3-4 times each year, our guest speakers have discussed topics such as women's health issues, immigration and visa issues, the American educational system, and resume preparation.
Our membership is open to all women from all nationalities who are interested in celebrating cultural diversity, developing international friendships, and sharing their heritage.
